Cayuga Lake 7/8 + 7/9 AM Trips
Guided out of Long Point yesterday and Myers Point today. Lake trout are well-distributed throughout Cayuga Lake. Water conditions are good. Lake level is pretty much at full pool – it doesn’t seem high.
7/8: Met Paul at the launch at 6:30 am. He’s done well with his own jigging and wanted to see if there were any tricks/tips I could give him. We settled into an area that featured a very good steady bite all morning, right up to when we left at around 11 am. Around 50′ to 85′ FOW produced for him. Fish ran to 28″ but the hardest fighting was a feisty 23″er! You just never know. Limetreuse Shakers in the new 3.75″ size have really been the ticket for us so far this year. You can get them from Lunker City. We had a good time and the weather was great.
7/9: Had another great time today with Emmet and his friend Gary. They were up from Virginia. The bite started great first thing around 6:45 am when we started fishing with Emmet momentarily hooking a couple solid fish for a few seconds. Then things really slowed up for awhile. Eventually the winds died down and some clouds rolled in and that seemed to get the bite going. Emmet landed one decent trout early that got the ball rolling. Then Gary had the hot hand and brought at least 4 solids to the boat. We almost had a salmon or two as well.
