Cayuga Lake out of Long Point 3/17

Reports

Guided Jack out here for a short half day trip.  The fishing was fantastic and we wrapped up after about an hour and a half.  That’s about as easy a day as this guide ever gets!  He was looking to cure his cabin fever after the winter.  At times he had a fish hit his jig on every drop.  He wound up landing around a dozen solid lake trout.  Most were in the 26″ range, although we had a couple smaller ones and several larger ones up to 29″.  Two wild fish were in the mix – both were older adult fish.

The water level on Cayuga Lake is very low.  Launching was a little tricky at Long Point.  Getting down from the dock into the boat and back up from the dock onto the boat could pose an issue for elderly anglers or people that are out of shape.  Of course you can always have your companion in the boat and float it off that way (i.e. have them board while the boat is on the trailer.)  Fish came deep 120′ to 150′.

Happy Jack! Nice St. Patty's Day fishing!

My availability remains good to excellent going forwards.  I will start putting up open dates once my calendar fills out a bit more, but for now things are good.  I expect top-notch early-season deep laker action to continue throughout April and into early May.
