Cayuga Lake out of Long Point 4/14
Guided a half day trip with Dave today starting around 10 am. Not much has changed up here – lake trout fishing continues to be good to excellent. We fished around 120′ to 140′ today and had steady action on fish running 23″ to 29″ long. More of the fish today were around 24″ to 25″ than the 27″ to 29″ recorded on previous trips. Plenty of bait has moved in. The lake level is gradually rising. Park crews were cutting the grass today – that is a sign that the park might be opening up sooner rather than later, for those curious about the restrooms. Fish continue to look very healthy – plump and virtually no lamprey marks.
April is all booked up – thanks to everyone who reserved a trip! Might as well take advantage of the great weather. Nothing surprises me around here weather-wise – despite still being in a bit of a drought pattern we absolutely could see a very wet May and/or June. The lack of rain keeps the lake clear and the lake trout biting.
