Cayuga Lake out of Long Point 6/7

Reports

Guided Leo and Ada for a full day of lake trout jigging starting at around 9 am. We had a gorgeous day on the water with a nice north wind and cool air temps that stayed in the 60s for most of the day.  Fishing was a typical pre-thermocline pattern with fish available at various depths.  Our first area didn’t show much of anything so I made a run to the stretch I had my clients work last Monday.  We hit paydirt with a couple areas that showed good numbers of active fish and bait.  Leo and Ada managed to land a dozen solid lakers – 2 were in the 18″ range but the rest all ran 23″ to 30″.  Fish appear healthy and clean (no signs of lamprey activity.)  I cleaned a limit of fish with most having alewives in their stomachs.  No gobies.  We had our best activity from around 45′ to 75′ FOW.  Down temps were laker friendly at around 35′ to 45′ depending on the area.  Surface temp was 62 degrees.
