Cayuga Lake out of Myers 7/14
The algae bloom worsened on Cayuga Lake and has reduced surface visibility to just a foot or two at most. Water underneath is likely clear. Guided Ron and his daughter Rachel for a full day today. We had one fish to show in the AM – a 26″ laker caught in deep water. A few others were lost. Fishing picked up markedly as the day went on, likely due to the increased light penetration as the sun got up. The pattern is the opposite of what usually happens in July – good early AM and late PM fishing. They hooked another dozen or more fish late in the morning including Ron’s 20″ rainbow and Rachel’s two solid 28″ lakers. Other fish were landed and dropped as well. Good PM fishing but very slow in the AM. Gorgeous day on the water. We’ll see how things shape up tomorrow.
