Cayuga Lake out of Myers 7/16
Guided Will for a full day starting at 7:30 am. We spent the first half of the lake checking out some areas where he’d be able to catch pickerel/pike and then we tried some areas that tend to produce salmonids apart from lakers. Will had a big brown follow him. He also had one on for a few seconds. A few follows and light hits from salmon were had as well. He landed three lakers up to 27″ while working these areas.
During the second half of the day, I gave him the tour of laker areas (he’s staying up here this week.) The bite was slow until a storm started to brew. He then picked up a couple lakers in short order. The algae bloom continues, though oddly the water in Taughannock Marina is crystal clear. The water fleas were really bad on Sunday – they were much better yesterday and today. It was hot out today but fortunately we had a decent breeze blowing most of the time.
