Cayuga Lake out of Myers Park 8/12 AM

Reports

Got out on Cayuga Lake for the first time in a week.  Today I had Mike and his friends Steve and Dave onboard.  Mike was on my boat when we had all that “fun” in the 30 mph+ gusts back on June 24th.  He brought some wind with him today but it wasn’t too bad.  Mostly cloudy conditions and the cold front coming through made for a somewhat funky bite today.  Steve really had the hot hand for much of the morning with whatever rod he touched.  He had fish on white/chartreuse and black.  He started us off with a 23″, then two nicer lakers and a dink.  We tried a lot of areas today (which is what I almost always do when I haven’t been out on the lake for an extended period of time.)  We had fish just about everywhere from Myers north on both sides of the lake.  The bite was just off.  Eventually Dave landed a couple nice fish and Mike got one as well.  The guys are here fishing all week long on their boat and I think the bite is really going to heat up as the weather system stabilizes.  Weather.gov hit it right a couple of days ago when they called for north winds 10 to 15 mph.  This AM they were calling for around 5 to 7 mph, which was way off.  It’s ridiculously hard to predict, so I can’t complain.  The fact that we get reasonably good wind forecasts a week out is nothing to take lightly!  Surface temp was 72 degrees.  The water is very clear!!!  We had action from around 85′ down to 110′.
