Cayuga Lake out of Myers Park 8/28

Reports

Guided back to back half-day trips out of Myers.   Fishing started out fair to good in the morning then wound up excellent by the afternoon.

AM Trip:  My morning trip was with Greg.  I had him work a bunch of areas, mainly hoping for a good brown.  He hooked a very solid fish that got off just before we were able to identify it.  From the battle, it was probably a good laker but could also have been a nice brown.  In another area Greg scored on some great lakers – a 30 1/2″ and a couple around 28″ to 29″.  He also had one smaller fish.

PM Trip:  My second outing was with Kyle and Abigail, both grad students at Cornell.  Kyle fishes a lot.  We had a nice start to our afternoon with a couple fish landed – one a piece.  Then we had a bit of a lull with a few dropped fish and a lot of hits that likely came from salmon/rainbows that didn’t hook up.  Lakers turned on with a vengeance and we finished the day with a dozen fine lake trout landed to 30″.  We had two doubles as well.  Fish came on Lunker City Shakers.  I think we had a few on Yum Money Minnows as well.
