Cayuga Lake out of Myers Park 9/13 AM
Guided Bill and his son Bill for 1/2 day starting around 6:45 am. I hadn’t seen Bill since we did a guided trip for pike back in the late 2000s Seneca pike “heyday.” We had a good time today with a solid day jigging. The guys landed 1/2 dozen fish including a couple salmon. One salmon was a dink and the other was a long, albeit thin fish (due to a lamprey hit.) Lakers ran to over 28″. Bill Jr. dropped a big laker and another nice one near the boat. Fishing remains solid on Cayuga Lake for nice lake trout, but day to day and hour to hour conditions are definitely having major effects on the bite. Plenty of bait remains around. The trees are starting to change color which is always nice. We reportedly had the coolest last two weeks of August and first week of September on record. I’ll take it anyday over the unusual heatwave happening out in California.
