Cayuga Lake out of Myers Park 9/20
I can’t believe that we are already getting towards the end of September. Ten more days and we’ll be in October. Long range weather forecasts are for fairly seasonal (fall) conditions starting on Monday. That should help jump-start fall fishing for northern pike, tiger musky, bass and more. We’ll see.
Guided George and Brian, who last joined me a couple years ago, along with Brian’s wife JD. They ran into a bit of fog on the way down, so we started around a half-hour late, at 8 am. The fog hung around for a couple of hours. We fished hard and made it a 6-hour trip due to the somewhat slow start and beautiful conditions outside. Fishing was not hot ‘n heavy by any means for us on the day. It was slow, but somewhat steady. George started us off with three nice lakers topping out at 28″. We were all hoping JD would catch a fish today and she didn’t let us down! She nabbed a nice 28″ fish as well. Brian missed quite a few to start but then hooked and landed a couple solids. Overall it was a drop-dead gorgeous day on the water. We heard and saw the first loon I’ve seen thus far this fall – a nice bird in winter plumage mid-lake. Baitfish were everywhere. Fish were in good condition. Not bad fishing at all but certainly not fast action.

Not much else to report. We fished all over the mid-to-southern portions of the lake today. Same colors, same depths and so on!
