Today I picked up Teddi at her sister's dock. I had her and a couple of her friends out maybe 8 or 9 years ago. She's 87 years old but still sharp as a tack despite some mobility issues. She did a great job with the fishing today and it wasn't an easy bite. A lot of boats went out of Myers today for the Barney's Single Day trout event, and from what I saw of the leaderboard, the fishing was tough all the way around.
Her sister's place is around the midlake area of Cayuga Lake, so that's where we fished today. She nabbed two hard fighting lakers around 26" and 27" within the first hour of the trip (I picked her up from her dock at 7:30am.) She had some other hits and follows as well, including one follow from a LARGE rainbow trout! She continued to fish hard and at the end of the trip nabbed a 20" laker that I cleaned up for her and her family's dinner. So it was a slow day, but we made the best of it. We fished 65' to 110' today - working the shallower zones in hopes of a silver fish. Weedmats are still abundant. A few waterfleas are around too.
August 21st, 22nd and the AM of the 27th are what's left open in August.
