Cayuga Lake out of Myers Park 11/13 AM

Got out today with Bob and his girlfriend Cathy for a 1/2-day trip starting just after 8 am.  For starters, the lake level is starting to drop noticeably.  It's a good foot down from last week.  Launching is still easy, but the drop-off from the dock to the lake level certainly increased a bit.  I felt good about our trip today, but the forecast did call for northwest winds around 10 to 20 mph, which can make for rough conditions.  More on that later...

At least the lake was pretty flat when we headed out.  The fishing was amongst the best I'd seen all year on Cayuga Lake.  It was better than last week's trip with Ron.  We started out with Bob and Cathy doubling up on their first drop of the jigs!  They had at least 4 doubles in the first 20 minutes of our trip.  Best fish was Bob's 34" massive lake trout!  We had smaller fish to start, then the big gals came moving through.  Bob also landed one 19" salmon once we started a drift.  Cathy fished for maybe 2/3rds of the day and was satiated.  After just over 4 hours we headed back to Myers.  We were met with fairly strong NW winds.  Bob asked me, "are these the biggest waves you've been in?"  I should've told him, "You should've been here last week!"   For a full-time guide, it's just a tougher day at the "office."  Like a seasoned pilot in turbulence, we have to deal with it - although I try my best to avoid it.

Tremendous day overall - I'd call the fishing spectacular.  Probably a 9/10 overall, but 10/10 at times.  Water temperature on the surface is 51 degrees.

Cathy's first lake trout!

Bob's salmon

Cathy with one of many that she landed today

Bob with a solid around 30"

Bob with a 34" Monsta!!!

It got rough! Or should I use dog-speak - RUFF!

Another shot of the windy lake after we got in

I have plenty of openings.  There are no guarantees on how long this hot bite will last, but we have a lot of great fishing on the horizon with salmon action just around the bend, good pike opportunities and much, much more!
