Cayuga Lake out of Myers Park 7/29 AM

Guided Jesse, his son Jack and son-in-law Dave for a 1/2-day trip starting right at 7 am.  The guys had a rental on Owasco Lake with some other family members, but after the past weekend's tough bite over there, we decided that Cayuga Lake would be a better bet.  As of this writing (Tuesday July 29th,) apparently some parts of Seneca Lake are experiencing blooms as well.  A lot of Seneca's blooms tend to be more localized but we'll see.

Fishing started out slow for us, despite having good screens full of bait and some suspended fish (mostly rainbows.)  We made a couple of moves and had a very solid bite window from around 7:45 am until maybe 9:30.  The guys wound up hitting the double-digits by the morning's end, but our first bite resulted in 7 or 8 solid fish.  The lakers averaged around 24" to 26" today.  We did not nab any large fish.  No rainbows either, despite plenty of follows.  All of our colors worked well - limetreuse, white/chartreuse tail, alewife - even Pimp Daddy (a Lunker City color.)  Some of the trout put up impressive fights!  Lake trout can suffer from a bad reputation at times - sometimes they are duds (it's mostly a trolling issue) but these Finger Lakes fish made some serious runs!  We were all impressed today!

Jesse bloodying up the boat with his death grip. I sure love my washdown hose!

Redemption - he CAN hold a fish without making a huge mess and killing it!

Jack actually got us started today!

The Group shot with the four fish they kept for dinner!
