First off, I just had a cancellation for tomorrow (Saturday 8/2) due to an illness. Call or email if you'd like to get out on short notice! The lake trout bite on Cayuga Lake is the best it has been all year long in terms of day to day consistency.
Today I guided Joe and his grandsons, Sam and Reilly. We didn't push the start time with the boys, so we launched at 7:30 am. The first hour of fishing featured a few hits but was slow. The fish got biting well in short order and we wound up hitting the double-digits with one 22" rainbow in the mix. Sam started us off with a hard fighting 29" laker, but most of the fish ran from 19" (one of them), to 25". The rainbow hit on the surface - literally and I was lucky to be able to net the fish, since I had a laker in my net when the rainbow hit! Joe did a good job keeping the fish on the line. Fish bit fairly well throughout the AM, although like I mentioned before, the early AM was somewhat slow and the fish tapered off a bit after maybe 10:30 am.
I have had a few comments on this website loading up slowly. I just noticed it too. Last winter's improvements on the site enabled me to load larger photo files. Unfortunately these larger files have also slowed the website's performance. I will have this looked at once things slow down a bit in January.
The weather looks perfect in August. Plenty of dates remain but I expect them to go fairly quickly. Book now for the best selection!
