Cayuga Lake out of Myers Park 8/17 AM

Guided Matt, aka "Huck" and his 11-year-old son Eli for a 1/2 day trip starting at 7 am.  The fishing today was definitely better than yesterday.  This trip was for Eli and the fish gods really rewarded him nicely!  He caught a solid lake trout, rainbow and salmon today!  He did all of this by himself.  No luck on the brown trout for the "Grand Slam" but either way, it was a great day.  He has just gotten into fishing and it was maybe his 2nd or 3rd trip ever.  Last time, he went out with his dad catching panfish.  He did a great job!   Matt landed three lakers, but he lost some very nice fish as well;  I believe a bigger laker and possibly a few nice browns or rainbows.  That's the way it goes sometimes.  The rainbow trout that Eli caught had more signs of caudal (tail) fish rot of some sort.  I will talk to DEC about this soon and will post what I hear.  Other than the fin, the fish looked to be in very good condition.

We fished 80' to 120' today.  Best colors were limetreuse, black and white/chartreuse tail.  A few dates remain open in August.  I'm looking forward to the next two weeks, which are featuring some cooler nights and pleasant days.

Fish on!

Eli with a landlocked salmon - we haven't seen too many of these yet this summer.

Eli with a big rainbow! Nice going!
