Cayuga Lake out of Myers Park 8/28 AM

Guided Dan today for a 1/2-day trip.  He's been coming out with me for the past 5 years.  Last year when he was up here, the bite was a bit challenging for him and his sister, but today he timed things right.  A couple of years ago, we had some ridiculous fishing, but today was what I'd consider "very good" - we had a steady bite throughout the day.  Lots of hits and chases.  Solid double-digits landed including a 31.5" laker.  He grew up fishing Owasco Lake and loves this area (as do most people who have ever been here!)

A lot of our fish today were older looking specimens and had some old lamprey scars.  We had one fish around 27" or 28" come up with a large live lamprey on it.  Many of today's fish fought well and ran 27" to 29".  It's funny how differently sized groups of fish move through day after day - sometimes it's a bunch of 22" to 25"ers and then other days the more mature fish are what we catch.

Lots of colors worked well today.  We fished around the same depths as previously reported.  Boat traffic was light.  Surface temps were around 72 degrees.  Fun day!

My website updates have begun!!!  The newer version of this site should look the exact same, but the speed and security should be much improved.  Work is expected to be completed in 4 to 6 weeks.  I am more or less paying for a whole new website to be made.  It would be much easier and cheaper to just ditch this site and go to Facebook and Instagram, but #1) I hate social media (I had my fill of "fun" when I moderated Lake Ontario United), and #2) This is basically an archive of (primarily) eastern Finger Lakes fishing and history through my experiences and those of my clients.  So the site is a labor of love and I'll keep paying for it to stay up.  The best way you can support this website, if you enjoy it, is to book a trip and/or recommend the site to your fishing friends.

Dan with a personal best! Just under 32"! Great fight!

A smaller, but still nice fish
