Cayuga Lake out of Myers Park 9/24 AM
Guided Jack today for a 1/2-day trip getting underway at around 8:45 am. The weather was weird all morning long, with fog and cloud cover over the lake. We had some intermittent sun and then more clouds. It was the kind of day, where if you didn't like the weather, you could wait 5 minutes and it would change. The sixty-seven degree air temp with moisture had us wearing sweatshirts and other warm clothing, but a few minutes after the sun started shining, it felt like 75 degrees. Needless to say, the bite was a bit off this morning.
We wound up having a very interesting, fun day. Jack got into a pod of small lakers with his first drop of the jig. We released a 19"er and then he dropped a couple. Things slowed a bit after that. A couple more 19"ers came and due to the slower bite, he kept those. We switched out to a blade bait due to the dark skies and eventually had some hits with that. A nice 28.5" laker came aboard. Jack lost 4 nice rainbows! He had some crazy jumps. He then lost a good laker and nabbed another. Jack keeps track of his missed hits/hookups and today I believe he went 5 for 21, so he did have a lot of hits! Fun, quiet day on the lake with very few boats out. Leaves continue to change color. Lake level is still decent. Water temperature is still hovering around 68.
This weekend and most of next week remain open for trips!
