Guided Jamie and his son Brody for a full-day trip starting just before 8 am. We were hoping to get into a brown or two today, but they weren't buying what we were selling. The weather pattern didn't look great for it on paper, but this was Brody's best chance to get out. Due to the Bear's/Barney's Fall 2-day Derby taking place, we thought about maybe fishing Owasco Lake instead, however as we pulled into Myer's parking lot, it was clear that the weather kept a lot of anglers home, at least for today.
We mainly fished the Myers and lower lake regions today. Jamie told me not to worry too much about the browns and just do a bit of both, so we'd be likely to get some action, so that's what I did. Lakers were fairly cooperative from around 80' to 120'. Fishing was not as good as we would've liked, but the rain and cloud cover didn't help much. Fish bit pretty well before the rain and then a little bit afterwards. We had some hits/follow up high, that were likely browns and/or rainbows, but none really gobbled the jigs good. Jamie and Brody fish Cayuga Lake a lot and were able to get a good look at the areas that produce well this time of year.
Water temp was 68 up top. I'm awaiting my new temp probe, which I should have early next week. Had to wing things a bit today (and over the past couple of trips.) It was funny today to see a boat towing a girl who was wakeboarding (water skiing on a board - if that's what it's called...) You can't blame people for trying to extend their recreational season on the water! Gotta give them some credit - the water temperature was around 68 and the air temp was in the mid-60s at best. Plus it was raining and she wasn't wearing a wetsuit or anything with much warmth. To be young again....
