Guided Otisco Lake for a full-day trip getting underway at 7 am with Mark I. Tiger muskies on the fly was the target. Tigers can be hard enough to catch on gear - with the fly-rod it's usually tougher. It's much harder to cover water effectively, that's for certain. Anyhow, we had what seemed like good conditions today with fairly brisk winds, reasonable water clarity, good cloud cover, lush vegetation (maybe too much!) and a new moon. Water temperatures are still warm here at 67 degrees. The water level is low. Clarity is decent as is weed cover. Mark had set-ups for fishing shallow as well as deeper. We could not buy a bite today - from muskies or any other species. Mark gave the fly-rod 6 solid hours and then we spent a couple hours casting hardware (spoons.) No luck there either. Fishing should pick up here considerably once water temperatures get into the low-60s and better yet, the 50s. We did see one musky a long ways away doing the "tiger musky head out of water swim" for maybe 100'.
