Owasco Lake 10/17 AM

10/17:  Guided Dayton and his wife Joan for a 1/2-day guided trip starting at around 8:45 am.  We had plenty of bait and some fish on the depthfinder to start, but the first couple of hours were very slow.  Dayton got us started with a small laker but we still couldn't get much going.  We ran downlake and had plenty of fish around us, but slow fishing despite trying some different  tactics.  Dayton then nabbed a nice 30" laker and we were soon in business.  After that, Joan wound up nailing the next three fish - all good ones.   Today was a "catch 'em and eat 'em" mission, so we kept everything.  We had a couple of follows from what I believe were rainbow trout, but no solid hits from them.  Overall the afternoon bite was much better than the morning bite for us.  Water temperatures on the surface were 61 degrees.  The water level is very low on Owasco Lake but remains launchable at Emerson Park.
