Guided Leo and Ada here for a full-day trip starting at 8 am. Leo is the guy who caught the 14lb+ brown trout here last year, so I couldn't blame him for wanting to fish Owasco Lake again this year. No monster browns today, but we had a good day. Visibility here is around 4'. We've been getting some nice steady wind out of varying directions and that is helping to maintain, if not improve water clarity.
I'm not a big fan "catching-wise" of the banker's hours we did today (although I like being able to sleep in on occasion,) but Leo and Ada are on vacation and don't want to get up early. Our first hour was good - we had a double on lakers, a decent rainbow and another laker. After that, we moved around a lot. Long story short, by the end of the trip on the last drop of Ada's jig, she sealed the deal on their limit of trout. So overall, it was a good July day on Owasco Lake. Boat/angling traffic was low today. Best depths were 70' to 95'. We took fish on black, chartreuse silk, limetreuse, white/chart. tail and alewife, so needless to say, color wasn't a big factor today. We had fairly steady fishing throughout the day with a couple maybe hour-long lulls in the action. Fun day!
