Seneca Lake out of Lodi Point 4/24

Guided Chris for a full-day trip starting at around 9:30 AM.  Seneca Lake remains very high.  Unfortunately, it appears as though we may be in for significant rain tomorrow during the day and evening.  It's exactly what we don't need...  Lake temps ranged from 41 to 43 on top.  There was some debris still floating around from the last rain event, but nothing too significant that I could see. By the way, the Severne Point Launch remains closed.

Fishing was challenging today.  Chris did an awful lot of casting and I did a lot of moving.  Fish just appear to be scattered and not concentrated, although a friend who was trolling found a good concentration of browns and salmon yesterday.  It certainly wasn't the case for us today, apart from a couple of pods of 15" to 16" salmon that we happened upon during the mid-point of our day, which provided some good sport.  Chris did wind up with a nice brown trout within our first hour of the trip.  That fish hit a stickbait.   No luck on blades today but jigs produced a couple of rainbows - one that was a good one.

Chris did have a follow from a very nice rainbow or salmon today.  He also lost a few good hookups. Had any of those fish been landed, we'd be looking at a good day rather than just an "ok day."  But that's fishing and it happens on a lot of trips.

It was a gorgeous day to be out.  Water temperatures are still good for casting trips here but finding the fish, or at least a few good ones, or for that matter, an area with a good concentration of them has been difficult.  Warming air temps should help and what will also help our cause is for the rain to stop for at least a week or two, but this spring that might be asking too much.

Nice 22" Brown for Chris, but it appeared to be a loner today
