Seneca Lake out of Lodi Point State Park 10/6 midday

I got out here on my own just to check things out.  I brought my usual lake trout tackle as well as some smallmouth bass gear.  The water here is low!  Launching isn't too bad out of Lodi, but some boats - if they draft a lot, may have some issues.  Foliage is looking pretty good out on Seneca Lake, though it will get much nicer after next week. I worked a few smallmouth areas that had been productive for me back in August and September.  I did not have any luck.  I didn't even encounter any gobies, which was strange.  A lot of the adult smallmouths migrate down the lake this time of year, so many may be in the lower reaches of the lake, but I was surprised not to contact any.  I did have a few light hits from gobies, and I did mark some fish that were likely smallmouths, so the odds are that they just weren't hitting well when I was fishing.  We did have a full-moon last night, which may have played into the weird bite. I did not stray far from the park today and fished both sides of the lake.  There was a lot of bait and coldwater fish on the other side of the lake.  I am also certain that I had some perch coming up to look at my jigs in places.  The trout/salmon were not active for me much at all.  I had one quick dropped fish and that was it for a while, but then I had a little flurry and had a bunch of hits in a row and landed three lake trout - one was a 14" dink, one was 21" (which I kept for dinner) and the other was around 24".  The larger two fish fought great!  Nobody was out fishing when I launched, but a few boats went out after I did - no word on how they did.  The lakers I encountered were deep - 120' to 140'.  There were some nice bait balls with fish on them in shallower.
