Seneca Lake out of Sampson State Park 7/14 AM

Guided John, his wife Jenn and son Odin for a half-day trip starting just after 7 am.  They had a 2.5 hour drive from Central PA, so I figured Sampson would be a good call, rather than go out of Geneva.  Turns out they rented a motel room, however we decided to stick with our plan and the mid-lake launching area.  The fishing worked out well and within a half-hour, Odin hooked up with a laker just off of the park.  Today was a catch 'em and eat 'em mission, so I got to check some stomach contents at the end of the trip.  We never ran far today and wound up with steady fishing - including one double, just working around the park and within maybe 4 to 5 miles.  Most fish ran 23" to 24" long.  John had the day's best with a 29.5" wild laker.  Unfortunately Jenn lost a hook-up and that was about it for her- but she did take some breaks and spent some time on her phone  Odin is quite the young angler and caught as many fish as John.

Fish ran from around 45' or 50' out to maybe 85' to 90' today.  A lot of colors produced for us.  With the full-moon, most fish had fresh alewives in their stomachs.  No gobies thus far during my last few trips.

Odin took a while to get a grip on this fish!

Fighting one! The fish was bigger than the bend in the rod would infer!

Double!

John on!

Best one of the day at 29.5"
