Guided Drew for a half-day trip starting just after 7:30 am. Drew's come out with me for a long time and we usually fish Cayuga Lake. We started on Keuka Lake years ago, had a slow trip on Seneca and have been on Cayuga ever since. Seneca Lake got some redemption today! This lake continues to offer some fine lake trout jigging. Drew managed his limit of lake trout this morning and released some fish as well. He has his own way of jigging and favors spinning gear. I much prefer bait-casting equipment for this type of fishing and he spent a good amount of the day using my stuff. I like the ergonomics of baitcasters and you also have more feel on the descent of the jig. Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages.
A lot of hook-ups were had today. If you have trouble keeping fish on the line when jigging trout, I have a lot of tips and tricks that will help minimize drops. We worked on some of those today. I learn new things all the time which I can impart to give anglers more satisfaction with their fishing. Anyways, it was a terrific day with some super fishing. Drew was kind enough to jig me up a lake trout, so I'm all set for dinner this weekend!
My available remains good for August although it is starting to fill up. Fishing has been great this summer and is top-notch on Seneca and Cayuga Lake as I write this!
