Seneca Lake out of Watkins Glen 3/26

Guided an abbreviated full-day trip today with Don and Franny.  Fellow guide friend Kurt Hoefig had a party of four that wanted to fish, so we each took 2 people out.  The lake level remains excellent on Seneca Lake.  Water temperature was 39 on the surface.

We had an excellent day fishing today!  Both guys did well with the catching, but Don had the hot hand on the bigger fish.  He nabbed a 23" salmon, a 21" FAT brown and a spectacular 26" fat salmon.  We had plenty of smaller fish as well, running from 13" up to 19", with most of the "dinks" around 14.5" to 16." Frances lost some good fish today including a nice laker.  We tried a little bit of lake trout jigging at the end of the day when our salmon bite died down without any luck.  Schools of alewives were along bottom in 120' to 150' from what I could detect on my electronics.  I will be out laker guiding on Cayuga Lake later this week at least twice, so I should have some good reports.

Fish today came on stickbaits and jigs.  Angling pressure was very light today.  For what it's worth, very few people are perch fishing the lower part of Seneca Lake this year.

As of this writing, over the next two weeks I have:  4/1 and then 4/3 - 4/10 open for trips!  I expect good to excellent salmon fishing  and good to excellent lake trout jigging on Seneca and Cayuga Lakes respectively.

First real solid salmon of the day! I believe this one was 23"

Fish On! And I think it's a good one!
