Met Mark I. out here at around 7:45 am for a day of fly-fishing muskies. The water level remains good here. Water temperature on the lake was 45 degrees. We had the lake to ourselves today, which was surprising, but not shocking given that the regular deer season opens tomorrow morning. Mark had some new flies that he wanted to try, so he fished those along with some other patterns that have proven successful on this lake in the past. Unfortunately we did not get any cooperation from the fish. No hits or follows. We had such a great start on this lake fly-fishing muskies back in late-November of 2016. After that time, we had fairly consistent fly-fishing (and some gear) action on this lake up until 2 years ago. Since that time, we have really struggled. I'm not sure if it's us, or the population of fish isn't what it was, or perhaps we just got very lucky during those initial trips. It may be a combination of all of the above. Anyways, Mark gave it a great effort as always and we had zero interest from any fish.
