Cayuga Lake out of Myers Park 10/29 midday

Reports

Guided Zach and his friend James today starting at around 9:30 am.  Lake trout fishing remains fair to good with bite windows often coming around midday.  Seven nice fish were landed today up to 31.5″ long.  We had a couple wild fish in the mix.  Water temperatures on the surface are 55/56 degrees.  The thermocline is fading and almost gone.  Many lake trout are in shallower water right now, but temps still aren’t optimal for them.  Fishing in front of creek mouths pumping out colder water can be a good strategy during this time of year.  Within two weeks (at the latest) we should see more trout and salmon shallow.  Good colors ranged from Zach’s black/chart tail (Lunker City) to the usual Lunker City Arkansas Shiner and Alewife patterns.  No fish were kept today but one spit up a goby and another spit up a large alewife.
