Cayuga Lake out of Myers Park 9/27 AM

Reports

Guided Greg for 1/2 day starting around 7:15 am.  The morning was somewhat slow for lakers but he picked up two nice fish – one around 25″ and one at 28″ and 8.5lbs.  He was looking to get a couple 8 to 10lbers for the smoker so we released the 25″ wild fish.  Later on he picked up another three fish including a 31+1/2″ laker we released and another 28″ that we kept.  One 16″ salmon was also landed.  Large swaths of warm water are moving around Cayuga Lake and we actually had one fish come from nearly 150′ down.  The lake is cooling down fairly rapidly but it still has a while to go.  Surface temps were around 65 to 66 today.

31+1/2" laker

Open Dates:  October 12th – 16th, 19th, 20th, 25th – 27th, 30th, 31st.  I have a few other dates open for AM 1/2 days only, so it never hurts to try.  November:  Most days are open for guided trips except for the 4th, 5th, 7th and 14th.

Fishing Report:  As always my caveat is as follows – this is more or less one man’s observations.  I can’t be everywhere at once and we may be out on a day with bad conditions or doing something wrong or unproductive, so take it for what it is.  Reports are based on current information, historical findings, weather conditions/water temperatures and reports from friends/contacts.

Cayuga Lake:  Lake trout jigging remains good.  Action is usually better later in the AM.  Bonus salmon are around.  Expect browns to begin staging around creek mouths and stocking sites.  Pickerel fishing should be excellent.  Bass fishing should be very good and perch action should be starting.

Seneca Lake:  Lake trout jigging should be fair to good.  Pike fishing should be underway.  Perch action should be starting.

Keuka Lake:  Expect good to excellent bass, perch and lake trout fishing.

Owasco Lake:  Expect good lake trout action with bonus rainbows and occasional browns. Bass fishing should be fair to good.  Pike fishing is underway.  Perch fishing should be good.

Skaneateles Lake:  Expect good to excellent smallmouth bass fishing, fair to good lake trout action in deeper water and fair to good perch fishing also deep.

Otisco Lake:  Bass fishing was fair for us – mainly due to tougher conditions but the lake looks good.  Expect good Tiger Musky fishing.  Water levels are good.
