Cayuga Lake out of Myers Town Park 10/1 AM
Guided a 6 hour trip starting just after 7 am with Mark, Mike and Kennedy. The original plan was to do a full day on Wednesday but we compared the weather forecasts and decided to go with a slightly shorter trip today. The weather wound up being great, but the fishing was tough. It was tougher than Sunday, which was a fairly slow day. We had a fair number of light hits and misses but very few solid grabs. Mike had a great day managing two big lakers – a 29″er and an 11+ 1/2 pound 31 1/2″ fish. Solid beauties! That was about it for the action other than a quick hookup and drop by Kennedy and some short hits by Mark.
Laker propagation netting has just started and crews handled around 40 ripe females today. A ton of fish are around Taughannock Park and a mile or two up and down from there. Jigging spoons can be effective but I much prefer to target feeders. Fish moved well for the jigs in the afternoon. I would’ve loved to have kept at it, but I had classes to teach. Now’s a good time to fish Keuka, Owasco and the northern/mid-portions of Cayuga Lake for non-spawners and late arrivals to the lower lake points.
