Cayuga Lake out of Union Springs 6/16

Reports

Guided Scott for 6 hours out of an 8 hour trip targeting mainly pickerel.  His family has a place on Skaneateles Lake.  Bass fishing has been good to excellent over there, but he wanted a change of pace for today.  Pickerel provide good sport and great eating, so that’s what he wanted to go with.  We had some solid action with around 7 nice pickerel landed to 24″.  He also landed a chunky 18″ smallmouth bass that was likely over 4lbs.  A big largemouth came unbuttoned as well.

After 4 hours of pickerel fishing our wind died down and we did some laker jigging.  He managed one nice 25″+ laker before he found out he had to get going to take care of some things.

The new launch at Union Springs is great.  The slope is still pretty shallow, but the new slabs are smooth and the docks and cleats are great.  The launch price is $6 which is a bargain and there’s an ice machine over there.
