Owasco Lake 7/28 AM

Reports

Guided Greg here for a 1/2 day starting at 6:15 AM.  Overall we had a good morning – not great, but certainly not bad.  Greg landed 4 nice lakers, including two that were over 28″ long.  He also landed a beautiful 18.5″ rainbow trout that we released.  His three best lakers were kept for my smoker.   Fish came from around 55′ of water out to around 85′ or 90′.   We saw another 1/2 dozen boats out on the lake fishing, doing everything from trolling for rainbows to casting for bass.  No photos today.

Cayuga Lake should be getting in better shape by the day. Cool nights and drier conditions should make short work with what’s left of the algae bloom.  I will likely be on Cayuga for much of next week and onwards.  I have more Owasco and Seneca Lake trips on the books and hope to keep fishing/guiding those lakes frequently throughout the rest of the season.  I enjoy the variety and for years that’s what I did.  It’s only in the last decade or so that I became much more “Cayuga-centric.”
