Owasco Lake 7/31 AM

Reports

Had a solid morning of fishing on Owasco Lake with Eric and his son Ehren.   The parking lot at Emerson Park was packed this morning with a bass tournament going on.  We met around 6:30 am and launched soon thereafter.  The guys got into a few lake trout and a 24″ rainbow trout in fairly short order.  We did a bit of moving around and had a couple nice browns lightly hit and chase in one area.  A few more lakers were caught before we wound up the day, with a total of 5 lakers and one rainbow.

Cayuga continues to fish well and I have one more Owasco trip on the books then I’ll be focusing more on Cayuga.  Owasco Lake provides great action throughout the fall and I like what I’m seeing there, so I plan to keep fishing both lakes on a regular basis.

I had Angling Zone friend/past client Scott let me know that Keuka Lake was fishing well for lakers as of early July with some nice sized fish that appear to be in better condition than they were in prior years.  I’m not sure what they are finding to eat over there, but am glad they are hanging in there.

Ehren hooked up on Owasco Lake

My availability in August in waning.

I can probably sneak in a couple more PM 1/2 days on Cayuga Lake out of Myers, but here’s what we’re looking at:

August 29th.

September features hot lake trout jigging on Cayuga Lake with good chances for bonus browns, rainbows and salmon.  The best bite typically runs through mid-September, but Cayuga Lake fishes well throughout the fall.  I like Owasco Lake throughout the fall right into November for lake trout.  Pike fishing can be very good there in October and onwards.

September availability:   1st – 3rd, 5 – 12th, 15th, 16th, 19th – 21st, 26th – 30th.

October availability:  1st, 3rd – 26th (yes – the whole month is still open), 28th – 31st.

November and onwards remain wide open.
