Skaneateles Lake 10/21

Reports

Guided Kevin and Tony for close to a full day today.  We met at 7 am in an attempt to beat the forecast high winds and possible thundershowers.  We were the only ones that appeared to go out this morning.  Winds were stiff out of the south, gusting into the lower 20 mph range.   The lake level remains low and water temps are around 57 degrees.  Fishing for smallmouth bass was very good today with the guys landing 14 mostly legal fish.  Top bass was a 20″ beauty that Kevin nabbed.  He also managed a bonus largemouth.   We had our luck with jerkbaits both hard and soft.  No other bonus species today.  A lot of bass were dropped and missed – our action was very steady today.

Today my “when in doubt, go out” mantra really paid off.  By 2 pm the winds had pretty much totally diminished. We did encounter a little rain but nothing significant.

This Saturday just booked.  Sunday remains open.  The weather looks to be very nice.  For November openings, please check my last report.
